Life in Adtech: Using Data and Analytics to Drive Client Success

In our blog series “Life in Adtech” we’re showcasing the different ways in which StackAdapters are driving innovation in adtech, and creating a progressive tech culture. From using modeling and data to create advanced algorithms to building stylish and robust user interfaces, everyone at StackAdapt is contributing to evolving the StackAdapt platform and providing the best product and service to our clients.

This month features Rijul Sharma, Director of Data Analytics and Reporting at StackAdapt. Rijul shares his journey into adtech, what his role entails, and how the Data Analytics and Reporting team supports StackAdapt users.

Can you share a bit about your journey into working in data analytics, reporting, and adtech?

I always liked working with numbers. About 8 years ago, I was introduced to the world of adtech through the job I was working at the time. This introduction made me very fascinated by how much data there was to analyze.

Every day I would learn something new and look at different data points, or come up with strategies to review the same data in a different way. I realized that analyzing data had the ability to create a big impact on the business.

My interest in adtech propelled me to eventually interview for a role at StackAdapt. Since joining StackAdapt, my interest has continued to grow. I’ve had the opportunity to dive into my skills and apply my adtech knowledge in a meaningful way.

What is unique about data analytics and reporting at StackAdapt?

The Data Analytics and Reporting team at StackAdapt focuses on growing our analytical services for clients. To do the best work possible, we invest a lot into our team’s analytical and technical skills.

I think what makes our team unique is how dedicated we are to continuous improvement, whether it be processes, our analytical prowess, or technical knowledge. We focus a lot on automation and innovation, which helps us save time on repetitive tasks and allows us to focus on other important projects.

How does the Data Analytics and Reporting team support StackAdapt users and contribute to StackAdapt’s growth?

We take a deep dive into our clients’ data and analyze it from various angles. Since every client is different, and has different needs, our data requirements can differ too. Ultimately, our analytical services provide access to multi-dimensional insights.

Our clients can then use those insights to strengthen their campaign strategies. We like to be a true partner for our users. By providing them with valuable insights at every step, we can facilitate holistic growth for our clients, and also build long-lasting relationships with them.

Who do you and your team most collaborate with within the organization, and why is this collaboration important?

The Data Analytics and Reporting team collaborates with multiple teams across the organization, and the Client Services team is our main collaborator. This team connects directly with StackAdapt clients. They are the ones who share the reports, analysis, insights, and recommendations that the Data Analytics and Reporting team puts together.

And in return, the Client Services team communicates to us client’s interest in a specific analysis or reporting solution. It’s a very close and collaborative relationship between our two teams.

What advice do you have for people looking to get into data analytics and reporting?

If you want to get into data analytics and reporting, it’s very important to have a good understanding of data and adtech basics. For example, knowing how data is stored in a database, querying the database, how different databases interact with each other, and the basics of ETL (extract, transform, load).

If you have your basics clear, you are more capable of understanding and delivering on a clients’ requirements. The key to success is to be detail oriented. Always make sure you understand the goals and objectives of a campaign, and don’t be afraid to innovate.

What is the most exciting part about being the Director of Data Analytics and Reporting at StackAdapt?

What I find most exciting about my role at StackAdapt is that I get to work with some of the most brilliant minds in adtech and analytics. I also love how my team is able to take ownership of their work and collaborate to build awesome solutions. With so much data available to us, there’s no limit to what we can analyze. There’s always something new to learn and improve upon!
