Life in Adtech: Impacting Business Outcomes Through Sales Support

In our blog series “Life in Adtech” we’re showcasing the different ways in which StackAdapters are driving innovation in adtech, and creating a progressive tech culture. From using modeling and data to create advanced algorithms to building stylish and robust user interfaces, everyone at StackAdapt is contributing to evolving the StackAdapt platform and providing the best product and service for our clients.

This month features Pierce McManus, Sales Enablement Manager at StackAdapt. Pierce shares his journey into adtech, what his role entails, and how his team supports the success of StackAdapt users.

Can you share a bit about your journey into working in adtech, and what attracted you to sales enablement?

Working in adtech was appealing to me, because I’ve always gravitated towards storytelling. I appreciate creative and hilarious advertising, the stories brands tell with their ads, the customers that those stories engage with, and the magic that happens when all three come together simultaneously.

Adtech also appeals to my need for variety in life. Every conversation and every campaign is different, which keeps your day to day refreshing. I could never work with or on the same project every day, and so I love that this industry allows for variety.

I decided to work in sales enablement for a couple reasons. Mainly, I wanted to continuously learn, while helping others. I love that in this field I can build something new from scratch that impacts the company and our clients in a positive way.

What is the main focus of the Sales Enablement team at StackAdapt, and what are your main responsibilities on the team?

The main focus of the Sales Enablement team is to help facilitate moving the business forward. We do this by providing support to our “students,” who are mostly members of the Revenue team. We support them by providing tools and guidance that will help them succeed in their careers. This doesn’t always revolve around just running training. It includes a lot of process, cross-functional collaboration, and organization.

Who do you most collaborate with within the organization, and what do you like most about this collaboration?

I work with the Revenue team at StackAdapt, and I’m collaborating mostly with the sales leaders more than any specific department. I enjoy working with them because they’re all incredibly passionate about the StackAdapt platform. They come with tons of great ideas on how we as an organization can improve. It’s empowering to work with such driven individuals.

What advice would you give someone interested in a career in Sales Enablement?

My advice is two fold. Stay hungry in regard to your self development. It’s important to push yourself to improve every day so you can be a resource to others looking for support. And, don’t wait for a title to be an enablement leader. Just by sharing insights and things that you’ve learned to your expanded organization will frame you as such.

What is the most rewarding part of being part of the Sales Enablement team at StackAdapt?

There are so many things that make this job rewarding. While it may seem vague, I find that just seeing my work have an impact on the organization is amazing. That said, the most rewarding part is seeing someone you’ve coached improve, and reach their goals and milestones. Tis’ why we’re in the biz!

In each new addition, we will be highlighting our teams and employees in our “Life In Adtech” series—stay tuned for more!
